UK-Server1 (Reseller Server) Migration
|
(24 October 2008, 11:48 pm)
|
UK-Server1 has suffered some issues over the past few days. This has caused mail problems.
We are on the last stages of the migration to the new hardware, the majority of the work is being undertaken over night. We are hoping to fully migrate the server on Sunday, this will result in 2-3 hours downtime of services. Updates will be posted here as they happen
-- Update 9:52am -- The upgrade is in progress, POP users will receive a notice telling them the upgrade is in progress and web users will see a holding page.
-- Update 3:21pm -- The upgrade has now been completed. The time taken was due to the amount of data that needed to be synchronised between the old and new servers.
Users have any problems please report them to the usual support contacts so they can be dealt with as quickly as possible. |

New Billing Portal
|
(12 September 2008, 11:43 pm)
|
The full migration from the old accounts system and the new one begun last week initially with the migration of reseller customers.
This will continue next week with the remainder of the reseller accounts along with the migration of hosting customers.
We have three portal: * one that will deal with resellers, dedicated hosting customers and any bespoke solutions (Virtual Servers, Clusters, Bulk Mail services) * One for hosting customers, billing in GPB £ only * One for hosting customers, billing in USD $ only
The full migration is expected to take a month, once complete customers will be billed monthly and will be able to manage their domains.
If you receive an email from the new billing system and want to check this is valid, please email support@php4hosting.co.uk and we will validate the request for you.
All payments billed will be billed via our parent company PFL Worldwide Ltd. Its very important that when you receive the email informing you of your account creation that you log in and ensure all details are up to date and correct.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message |

US Network Migration
|
(12 May 2008, 10:20 pm)
|
We have started the US network migration. This has to be completed by the end of the month, so we will be moving very quickly.
IP address's will be changing, the old address will be migrated to the new addresses as follows 67.136.25.x -> 207.158.30.x
This will only effect customers who manage their own DNS servers. However we will in the interim be setting up a DNS redirect.
As we migrate each server we will update the blog so customers will be aware of any downtime. Migration should take about 2 hours per server
-- Update 13/May/2008 - 00:27 -- The primary DNS server has been migrated this includes but not limited to ns1.php5hosting.net ns1.anon-dns.net
No user changes should be required -- |

Remote Port Access
|
(21 April 2008, 4:25 pm)
|
|
We are in the process of hardening the firewall rules. Once the work is completed all ports will be blocked except the following http (80) https (443) ftp (20/21) ssh (22) ident (113) smtp (25) pop3 (110) svn (3690) Remote MySQL access will be blocked by default, because of the way we setup MySQL, it runs on various ports. So rather than leave all the ports open the default will be to have these ports closed, and opened upon request. As the majority of users do not make remote MySQL connections this has been deemed the best solution. Therefore if you require remote MySQL access, please contact support quoting your username or account number. Resellers please note that the default will be to leave remote MySQL access open. |

Upgrades / Migrations
|
(15 April 2008, 11:40 pm)
|
Software Upgrades Over the next few weeks we will be upgrading the core operating system on our servers. This will involve total re-installation as the machines are upgraded in turn.
US Network Migration We are shortly migrating our US network to a new facility, this will involve IP address changes however as we handle 99% of our customers DNS this will not effect the majority of customers.
The migration will be done a server at a time and update news posted on the blog as it happens. We expect the whole migration to take between 4-6 weeks although will aim to complete as soon as possible.
There will be intermittent periods of downtime during these upgrades and migrations but we are aiming to keep them to a minimum. |
